Flame Stitch

Loving the flame stitch right now. It has been enjoying great popularity, but was actually first introduced in the early 13th century. The origins are fairly obscure. It seems that it developed out of a combination of a brick stitch and zig-zag stitch known as hungarian stitch. Used in modern color ways from walls and floors to pillows and textiles the flames stitch is back in a big way!

  2. Kind of reminds me of Missoni but a little different. I like it! I'm starting to get sick of seeing Chevron EVERYWHERE. I mean, i like Chevron and everything, but I dont want zigzags all over my house. This would be a good way to mix it up a little! I'm following you back!

  5. So interesting to learn of its origin. To me, it will always be the pattern my grandmother used in all her homemade afghans :)
