The chesterfield is one of those classic pieces that won't ever go out of style! It is said that the sofa was named after an Earl of Chesterfield. The rolled arms as high as it's back and it's gorgeous tufting are a few of its distinctive characteristics. I've also heard that they are best shown without pillows, but maybe us pillow-aholics can sneak a few on there! These look amazing in velvet or perhaps a black leather! This one's for you J!
Here are some resources for buying your very own!
This is quite a popular sofa! One of my other designing friends blogged about it recently, too. I have added it to my list of items to have.
ReplyDeleteChesterfields are possibly my favorite sofa style. Unfortunately I have yet to find a reasonably priced one. I love that they can either be very masculine, such as a worn in dark leather one in a man cave/ library, or super feminine in a bright fabric.
ReplyDeleteLike a fine aged scotch this is awesomely classic. Love it, it gets better with age and time...fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOhhh I'm absolutely in loooove with the velvet first one and the bronze one with the wood fireplace in the image. I love the tufts and look of this sofa and can only hope I have a house one day to put it in!! so timeless and classic. xo
ReplyDeleteThese are high style and high drama sofas! If I had a sofa like this, I might have to start walking around the house wearing fancy clothes and calling people "Dahling..."
ReplyDeleteNot that that would be a bad thing :)
Beautiful! I really love the first photo, such drama.
ReplyDeleteYou have stolen my heart! I have a file full of the forever-loved chesterfield! Aahhhh! I am so happy I saw this post! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteChesterfields are the most gorgeous sofas *EVER*. Hands down, non-negotiable! That gray velvet number is ridiculously perfect, come to mama!!!
